Citizen Praised for Helping Officer during Pursuit
A citizen is receiving high praise from the La Vergne Police Department for their heroic actions during a foot pursuit.
A La Vergne officer recognized a woman who was parked in a handicapped spot in La Vergne. The woman had several warrants and after attempting to make contact with the woman, she fled, and eventually got out of her car, running on the I-24 on ramp. During the foot pursuit the officer injured his leg. That’s when a citizen pulled over to pick up the officer and drove him toward the fleeing suspect. Once they caught up to her, the officer got out of the citizens vehicle and arrested the woman.
“We caution citizens from getting involved in active pursuits, but this person went out of their way to help our officer and get this suspect into custody,” says Chief Chris Moews. “It is because of their heroic actions that this person is behind bars today.”
No other injuries were reported.
