Citizens Police Academy Graduation
Twenty-two citizens graduated from the 36th session of the Murfreesboro Police
Department Citizens Police Academy (CPA).
This was the culmination of 12-weeks of learning about the workings of the department. The
participants attended presentations from several officers and detectives on topics such as search and
seizure, officer safety, K9, Special Operations, emergency communications, domestic violence and
forensics. They also took part in mock traffic stops and utilized the firearm simulator.
The group was presented graduation certificates April 9, at MPD Police Headquarters, by Chief Michael
Bowen, Assistant Chief Eric Cook and CPA Coordinator and Community Relations Officer Amy Norville.
Graduates include, Nawras Alshanawani, City Public Information Director Mike Browning, Derek Drake,
Edwin Dudley, Jennifer Hayden, Nathalie Hughes, Mildred Johnson, Charles Lowery, Cynthia Martin,
City Council Member Ronnie Martin, Shannon McCann, Maria Posada, Darlene Pleman-Voakes,
Communications/9-1-1 Director Seth Russell, Cloe Shaw, Dana Smith, James Smith, Dave Stockwell,
Gale Stoner, Devin Tolbert, Kara Treadway, and Lori Yates.
