City Construction Projects for April 2 through April 8

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Memorial Blvd, Old Fort Pkwy and Ridgley Road for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times.  Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work.  W Lytle Street at Broad St is opened to traffic and is restricted to right-in and right-out movements only. Westbound traffic has been shifted to the north side to align with the newly constructed ramp.  On Broad St, the northbound and southbound left turn movements can only be made during a protected turn signal phase.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle Street will be closed to through traffic between Walnut St and Maple St for construction work.  N Maple St between College St and Burton St and W Lytle St between N Maple St and N Walnut St will be closed to through traffic until April, 2017.  Access driveways to local businesses will be kept open.  Starting, Monday, March 27 through Monday, April 8, Walnut St will be closed from the County Clerk’s office entrance to Burton St. for underground utility work.  Access to local businesses and driveways will be kept open.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St)

Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 – April, 30 2017:  As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St will be closed to traffic to make roadway improvements.  Burton St traffic will be detoured onto College St.  On Monday and Tuesday, between 5:00 am and 10:00 am, N Church Street between County Parking Lot and Burton St will be closed for concrete work.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday:  Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd has been shifted to the east side and reduced to two-lanes two-way between E Main St and Greenland Dr.  E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd.  The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic.  Appropriate traffic control signs and message boards will be in place.

Comcast Aerial Fiber Optics Installation Work (Thompson Ln between Wilkinson Pike/Gateway Blvd and Medical Center Pkwy)

Expected Lane Closures:  Tuesday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 am to Noon:  Contractor for Comcast will be installing overhead fiber optics cables along Thompson Ln (southbound) between Wilkinson Pike/Gateway Blvd and Medical Center Pkwy.  Southbound traffic will be reduced to one lane operation.  Northbound traffic on Thompson Ln will not be affected.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Turn Lane Improvement Project (Medical Center Pkwy near Gresham Park Dr.)

Expected Road Closures:  Monday through Friday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  Contractor for a private development will be paving the right turn lane on Medical Center Pkwy just east of Gresham Park Dr.  Westbound traffic on Medical Center Pkwy will be reduced from two lanes to one lane.  Eastbound traffic will not be affected.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TDOT resurfacing of I-840 eastbound from West Fork Stones River Bridge (M.M. 55) to East Fork Stones River Bridge (MM 61)

Expected Lane Closures: Friday, March 31, 8PM through Monday, April 3, 5AM, There will be a ramp closure from Sulphur Springs Rd to I-840 eastbound (Exit 57) for removal and replacement of concrete. A detour will be in place. There will be also be a right lane closure on I-840 eastbound to repair concrete.

Pavement Thickness Testing and Roadway Core Samples Project

1) Haynes Dr between Thompson Ln and Wiltshire Dr

Expected Lane Closures:  Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:  City Contractor for City Engineering Department will be evaluating pavement thickness and taking core samples on Haynes Dr between Thompson Ln and Wiltshire Dr.  Traffic on Haynes Dr will be reduced to one-lane flagging operation.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

2) S Church St at I-24 (Northbound Left Turn Lanes)

Expected Lane Closures:  Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, Weather Permitting, 9:00 pm to 3:00 am:  City Contractor for City Engineering Department will be evaluating pavement thickness and taking core samples on S Church St at I-24.  The northbound left turning traffic will be reduced to one-lane flagging operation.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures:  Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM:  City paving contractor will be paving the following streets:

1) Cason Ln between Brady Keg Creek Dr. and Eldin Creek Dr.
2) Side-street stubs at Frogtown Ln, Buffalo Dr, Farrar Dr and Poplar Dr
3) Riverview Dr between Battleground Dr and Avon Dr
4) A small portion of Poplar Ave

There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions.  Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
