City Construction Projects for November 12 through November 18
Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project (Est Substantial Completion December 2017)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 6:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street, Memorial Blvd, Old Fort Pkwy and Ridgley Road for construction of the new Overpass. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. At all times, one lane will remain open in each direction. Broadmor Blvd is closed to through traffic for construction work. W Lytle Street at Broad St is opened to traffic and is restricted to right-in and right-out movements only. Westbound traffic has been shifted to the north side to align with the newly constructed ramp. On Broad St, the northbound and southbound left turn movements can only be made during a protected turn signal phase. Appropriate traffic controls and detours will be in-place.
Middle Tennessee Widening Project (Greenland Dr to E Main St) (Est Substantial Completion August 2018)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Traffic on Middle Tennessee Blvd is reduced to two-lanes two-way between E Main St and Greenland Dr. E Lytle St is closed at Middle Tennessee Blvd. The section of E Lytle St between N Bilbro Ave and Middle Tennessee Blvd is only open to local traffic. Appropriate traffic control will be in place.
Rutherford County Judicial Center Project (between Burton St and Lytle St) (Est Substantial Completion June, 2018)
Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, July 20, 2016 – June 30, 2018: As part of the Rutherford County Judicial Center construction, Burton St between Maple St and Church St will be closed to traffic to make roadway improvements. Burton St traffic will be detoured onto College St. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.
W Lytle Street Roadway Improvement Project (Baker St to Church St) (Est Substantial Completion August 2018)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: W Lytle Street will be closed to through traffic between Walnut St and Front St for construction work. W Lytle St between N Maple St and N Church St will be closed to through traffic until end of November 30, 2017. Access driveways to local businesses will be kept open. On Monday, November 13, N Maple St between W Burton St and W College St will be re-opened. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Medical Center Pkwy at GreshamPark Dr Turn Lane Improvement Project (Est Substantial Completion October 2017)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 am: The Contractor for the City of Murfreesboro will be installing final pavement markings at Medical Center Pkwy and GreshamPark Dr. Eastbound traffic on Medical Center Pkwy will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. Westbound traffic will not be affected.
Medical Center Pkwy at Gateway Blvd Signalization and Turn Lane Improvement Project (Est Substantial Completion December 2017)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm: The Contractor for the City of Murfreesboro will be installing final pavement markings at Medical Center Pkwy and Gateway Blvd. Westbound traffic on Medical Center Pkwy at Gateway Blvd will be reduced from two lanes to one lane. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Right Turn Lane Improvement Project at NW Broad St and Florence Rd (Est Substantial Completion October 2017)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm: The Contractor for the City of Murfreesboro will be adding a northbound right turn lane NW Broad St at Florence Rd. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on Butler Dr. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Butler Dr Turn Lane Improvement Project between S Church St and General Mills Way (Est Substantial Completion November 2017)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm: The Contractor for the City of Murfreesboro will be extending the westbound right turn lane on Butler Dr between S Church St and General Mills Way. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions on Butler Dr. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Haynes Dr Turn Lane Improvement Project at Haynes Dr and Sulphur Springs Road (Est Substantial Completion November 2017)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm: The Contractor for the City of Murfreesboro will be adding a eastbound right turn lane on Haynes Dr at Sulphur Springs Rd. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
TDOT’s Turning Lane Improvement Project on Old Fort Pkwy at the I-24 Westbound Exit Ramp (Exit 78-B) (Est Substantial Completion June, 2018)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm: There will be a lane and shoulder closure on Old Fort Pkwy eastbound between I-24 and N Thompson Lane as well as on the I-24 westbound exit ramp (78-B) for grading operations in the median. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place
Roadway Improvement Project (Haynes Dr between Thompson Ln and Wiltshire Dr)
Expected Lane Closures: 7:00 am Saturday, October 28 through 8:00 pm Sunday, October 29: Contractor for City of Murfreesboro will be milling Haynes Dr between Thompson Ln and Wiltshire Dr. Haynes Dr will be closed to through traffic. Traffic on Haynes Drive will be detoured onto Wiltshire Dr and Thompson Ln. Local residents will have access at all times. Appropriate detours and traffic controls will be in place.
Roadway Improvement Project (Blaze Dr between Brinkley Rd and Stover Glen)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Contractor for City of Murfreesboro will be installing final pavement markings along Blaze Dr between Brinkley Rd and Stovers Glen. There will be minor traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
City of Murfreesboro Fiber Optic Project (E Main St and Highland Ave)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for City of Murfreesboro will be installing underground fiber optic lines at E Main St and Highland Ave. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
John R Rice Blvd Roadway Improvement Project (just north of Old Fort Pkwy)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for a private development will be adding an additional lane on John R Rice Blvd. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions intermittently. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
City Urban Environmental Department Tree Trimming Work
1) Westbound Medical Center Pkwy at Willow Oak Dr – 11/13, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
2) Medical Center Pkwy just east of Robert Rose Dr – 11/13, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
3) Eastbound Northfield Blvd at Battleground Dr – 11/14, 8:30 am – Noon
4) W Vine St between NW Broad St and Church St – 11/15 & 11/16, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Thursday, Weather Permitting, City Urban Environmental crews will be elevating tree limbs. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Murfreesboro Electric Department Utility Pole Installation Project (N Highland Ave between E Lytle St and E College St)
Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Contractor for Murfreesboro Electric Department will be installing utility poles and transformers and service wires along N Highland Ave between E Lytle St and E College St. Northbound and Southbound traffic will be detoured onto University Ave and Maney Ave. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Murfreesboro Water Resources Sewer Rehabilitation Work
1) Larry Ct between Ransom Dr to Dead End of Larry Ct – 11/13
2) Sherrill Blvd between Olympia Pl to 1902 Sherrill Blvd – 11/14

Annual City Street Paving Project
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM: City contractor will be milling, raising castings and paving the following streets:
1. Middle Tennessee Blvd between New Salem Hwy and S Church St
2. Haynes Dr between Thompson Ln and Wiltshire Dr
3. Medical Center Pkwy at Bill Jones Bridge/CSX RR bridge approaches.
4. Jones Blvd near Mitchell Nelson School
5. Shearon Ct, Anita Ct, Messick Ct, Fox Point Ct, Satinwood Dr, RiverView Dr, Royal Dr, Middle Tennessee Blvd at Park Ave, Haynes Dr at Memorial Blvd, Northfield Blvd at Heritage Park and Butler Dr at S Church St.
Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions during the milling operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
