KMA Design Conducting Wayfinding Survey for Improving Signage in Downtown Murfreesboro
In conjunction with the City of Murfreesboro, Kerestes-Martin Associates (KMA Design), has published an online survey to understand the public’s view on the existing state of downtown signage.
Murfreesboro citizens can provide input by visiting City of Murfreesboro, TN – Signage Survey (surveymonkey.com). A wayfinding Survey QR Code for proving input is also available below.
KMA Design is the Pittsburgh-based firm selected for establishing a new Wayfinding and Signage program for the downtown area and to generate new suggestions to help in improving the signage in the downtown area.
The Wayfinding program will include a unique branded directional signage and wayfinding system that will serve residents and visitors to finding civic features and assist in the development of the City’s brand identification.
“The Downtown Wayfinding program is providing a great opportunity to improve signage and create some branding for our historic downtown,” said Assistant City Manager Sam Huddleston. “We look forward to input from our community through this survey to help with this program.”
The City selected KMA Design in August 2023 as the most qualified firm. KMA Design will provide recommendations for a Wayfinding program to be implemented in the downtown area of Murfreesboro by December 2024.
The scope of services include assessment, analysis, code research and construction documents to update Wayfinding signage through the downtown area. Wayfinding includes direction to City amenities and recreational facilities, and other key destinations that public may visit like City Hall, Rutherford County Judicial Center, and other civic buildings.
The City’s agreement with KMA, approved by the City Council Aug. 17, 2023, set fees at $68,605, not-to-exceed budget of $150,000, funded by the Planning Department FY24 operating budget.
