Downtown Murfreesboro Calendar of Events 2023

Main Street Murfreesboro, a nonprofit, 501c3 has been focused on economic development, design, and promotions of the historic downtown business district for the past 38 years.

Main Street Murfreesboro hosts several downtown events to bring tourism and community residents to the historic downtown business district. Free events this summer include:

June 2 – Friday Night Live featuring country music artist Justin Kirk performing from 6:30-9:30pm. This concert kicks off the Friday Night Live summer series for free family friendly concerts on the downtown Murfreesboro square. Bring a chair and come early to set up on the streets downtown. Restaurants and food trucks will be open to serve dinner and drinks.

Future Friday Night Live Concerts: July 7 – Entice (R&B), August 4 – Monsters of Yacht (Yacht Rock), September 15 – Ultimate Oldies (oldies but goodies). All concerts begin at 6:30 pm. Roads will be closed accessing the public square off Maple Street, S. Church Street and E. Main Street starting at 6:00pm.

June 8 – Sip, Shop, and Stroll downtown with The Boro Art Crawl. From 5:00-8:00pm boutique stores will stay open for specials and drinks. Over 20 businesses will open their doors downtown to host artists with the Art Crawl at the same time. An inaugural “Sidewalk Chalk” contest will take place for young and old artists to compete with drawings on the downtown sidewalks. Winners will be announced at 7:00pm on the corner of the public square at E. Main and S. Church Street. Interested artists may enter the Sidewalk Chalk contest through this link: https://forms.office.com/r/8kDYKLkxy0. Come downtown for dinner, drinks, and music as you shop and enjoy local artwork.

July 22 – Taste of Rutherford: The Summer Party for Main Street Murfreesboro. This annual fundraiser is a ticketed event held on the grounds of Oakland’s Mansion from 6-9pm. Over 25 restaurants will be serving tastings of their food, a beer garden will be giving tastings of local craft beer from Mid-State Brew Crew, The O’Donnells will perform and Julie’s Bartending will be serving up summer drinks. $100 for VIP tickets including the craft beer garden access or $50 tickets for food tastings. Tickets can be purchased at www.mainstreetmurfreesboro.org.

The Saturday Market will continue every Saturday around the Rutherford County Historic Courthouse from 8am to Noon. Over 70 vendors selling fresh, locally grown produce, vegetables, grass fed beef, eggs, jams, baked goods, and artisans on site with their crafts. Fun for the whole family at the Saturday Market held each Saturday morning through October.
