Derek Moore, M.D., MPH, has joined the Saint Thomas Health Kidney Transplant Center in Nashville (see picture below). He was Surgical Director, Living Donor Kidney Program, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before joining Saint Thomas Health. Dr. Moore received his undergraduate degree, medical degree and Master of Public Health from Vanderbilt University. He completed his fellowship in Transplantation Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Saint Thomas Health is part of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system.
Dr. Moore is board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He serves on multiple national transplant academic committees and has received 12 awards and honors of distinction since 1995, including multiple grants for his academic and transplant work.
Dr. Moore is a reviewer for the following publications: American Journal of Transplantation; Journal of the American College of Surgeons; Liver Transplantation; Hepatology; Journal of Surgical Research; Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International; International Journal of Transplantation; Kidney International; Transplant International; and Annals of Transplantation.
Dr. Moore has co-authored 37 academic articles in his areas of expertise and has co-authored two surgical textbook chapters. He lectures widely at surgical conferences on transplantation and general surgery.
