DR. MATTHEW DESHAZO JOINS SAINT THOMAS HEART FAILURE CLINICS IN NASHVILLE, MURFREESBORO
Matthew deShazo, M.D., MPH, has joined the Saint Thomas West Heart Failure Clinic and the Saint Thomas Rutherford Heart Failure Clinic as a specialist in advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and transplant cardiology (see picture below). Dr. deShazo joins the two Saint Thomas Health Heart Failure Clinics from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Dr. deShazo is accredited in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, cardiovascular disease and general internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Saint Thomas Health is part of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system.
Dr. deShazo is a clinical researcher with multiple ongoing cardiac-related research studies; in addition, he publishes and speaks frequently on a variety of cardiac-related topics, including pulmonary hypertension and acute heart failure.
Dr. deShazo received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation and pulmonary hypertension at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. Dr. deShazo received his Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland.
