Ernest Harry Longworth, Jr., age 77, a resident of Smyrna, TN, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
Mr. Longworth was born on July 22, 1940, in Chattanooga, TN to Ernest H. Longworth, Sr. and Mildred Hayes Lane Longworth. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Michael “Mike” Keeton Longworth and Dennis Alan Longworth and granddaughter, Amy Lynn Dunaway.
Mr. Longworth is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ellen Getts Longworth; daughters, Stacy Ellen (Robert) Dunaway of Smyrna, TN, Tamara Diane McBride of Mount Juliet, TN and Lane Longworth (David) Williams of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, William (Judy) Getts, Jr. of High Springs, FL; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and beloved dog, Sadie.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral service will be 10:00 AMMonday, February 12, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 316 Mayfield Drive, Smyrna, TN. Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery in Wartrace, TN, with a grave dedication at 3:00 PM.
Mr. Longworth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga, and was the former owner and operator of Carpet Cleaning by Longworth, Inc. in Smyrna and Nashville, TN.
