Family Campout at the Wilderness Station
The Wilderness Station's family campout is an overnight at Barfield Crescent Park built for households that want the tent-and-campfire experience without driving to a state park two hours away. You arrive Saturday afternoon and pack up Sunday morning.
The pricing is the part worth noting: it is genuinely cheap for a family, and children four and under come free. For a lot of Rutherford County kids this is a first night in a tent with a ranger nearby, which is a much easier introduction than a remote campsite.
When: Saturday, September 26 into Sunday, September 27, 2026 — check in from 2:00 p.m. Saturday
Where: Wilderness Station at Barfield Crescent Park, 401 Volunteer Road, Murfreesboro
Cost: $10 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 5 to 12, free for 4 and under
Registration is online and required, and spots are limited by the number of sites. Bring your own tent and bedding.
