Night Sounds Hike at the Wilderness Station
Barfield Crescent Park gets loud after sunset, and the Wilderness Station's Night Sounds Hike is built around listening to it. Meet at the Wilderness Station and head out with a naturalist to sort the calls — the frogs, the owls, the insects that run the night shift.
What makes this one worth circling is the age range. It is free for all ages and the walk stays gentle, so a family with a toddler and a middle-schooler can do the same program without splitting up. Evening programs rarely manage that.
When: Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Where: Wilderness Station at Barfield Crescent Park, 401 Volunteer Road, Murfreesboro
Cost: Free for all ages — registration required
Register online ahead of time. Bring a flashlight and bug spray, and expect to stand still and stay quiet more than you would on a daytime hike — that is the whole point.
