Excellence in Education spotlights Drs. Mary and Max Moss
The 11th Annual Excellence in Education Gala will honor Drs. Mary and Max Moss on January 26, 2018. The Mosses are passionate supporters of the community with a focus on education and health care. Max is one of the charter members of The City Schools Foundation serving on the Foundation board for numerous years.
“I grew up in a family of teachers,” says Dr. Max Moss. “Teachers instill a love of learning and elementary school is where the spark is ignited.”
“It was a teacher that encouraged me to go into the medical field,” says Dr. Mary Moss. That gentle nudge was what led her to becoming a physician.
The Mosses have three children, Elizabeth, Tripp and Jared, all of whom attended Murfreesboro City Schools.
In October, The City Schools Foundation gave over $52,000 to Murfreesboro City Schools in the form of teacher grants that directly benefit the classroom and students. The Foundation will also give over $25,000 in February to schools for parity grants helping Title schools overcome some financial barriers.
This year’s Gala will spotlight a Mardi Gras themed celebration and will be held at the MTSU new student union center. A jazz ensemble, Murfreesboro Dance Club performance and a Beale Street themed pre-party sponsors hour will create a grand night for attendees.
The event will highlight Reeves-Rogers Elementary. Reeves-Rogers is home to over 400 students and is located adjacent to MTSU on Greenland Drive. Dr. Kimberly Osborne, Principal and Sia Phillips, Assistant Principal serve as the administrative team for the school.
Reservations for the Gala are now available by calling 615-893-2313.
