As of 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, the Tennessee Department of Health (TNDH) has received one positive test result for a case of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Rutherford County.
At this time, we do not have additional information concerning the patient or any possible contacts.
We continue to work closely with the TNDH, Rutherford County Health Department, and local healthcare partners to identify contacts and contain spread of this virus in our communities.
Persons with concerns about their health should contact their primary healthcare providers or contact the TNDH’s Public Information Line at 1-877-857-2945.
“We are continuing to monitor the situation with the Tennessee Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control for guidance for our employees and the general public,” said Mayor Bill Ketron.
“Any changes in County business will be relayed through our website, to local media, and on social media,” he continued.
As a reminder, common health practices are imperative to reducing the spread of this virus. These include:
- Washing hands (over 20 seconds) and frequently
- Covering cough or sneeze
- Avoiding touching eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
- Staying home if you are sick
- Staying away from people who are sick
