Former Oakland student to research in Thailand

Katie Arnette (Oakland High School Class of 2013), who attends Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, has been selected to join a research team in Lop Buri, Thailand this summer.

Katie and the team from Eckerd, along with a team from North Carolina State, will study an archaeological dig site with remains that are expected to date from the Iron Age.  With a major in molecular biology, Arnette is attending the anthropology research project to help with identifying skeletal remains.

While attending Eckerd College, Arnette is also a four year member of the women’s volleyball team. While a student at Oakland High School, Katie was part of the school’s International Baccalaureate program and the varsity volleyball team.  Oakland High School is very proud of the accomplishments of our former students.
