Dr. Frank W. Essex obituary
Dr. Frank W. Essex, age 90 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Monday July 2, 2018. A native of DeWitt, AR, he was the son of the late Don Walton and Cora Gladys Baker Essex. Dr. Essex was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Wittman Essex, a brother, Jack Essex, and sons in law, Danny Turner and Jim Bimson.
Dr. Essex is survived by sons, David Essex and his wife Dorothy of Georgetown, SC, and Michael Essex and his wife Marie of Rego Park, NY; daughters, Beth Bimson of Murfreesboro, TN, and Carol Turner of Milton, TN; brothers, Keith Essex of North Little Rock, AR; sisters, Jean Ann Farley of Big Springs, TX, Emily Denton of Enid, OK, and Joey Pedigo of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Clardy, Rev. Mary Dicken, and Rev. Tommy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Dr. Essex was a US Air Force veteran, a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and a retired Professor of Political Science from Middle Tennessee State University.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church building fund in memory of Dr. Essex.
