Groundbreaking for Kittrell Health & Public Safety Building

Rutherford County broke ground last week for the Kittrell Health & Public Safety Building, the second of four public safety buildings to be positioned in rural areas of the County.

The Kittrell Health & Public Safety Building is one of four public safety buildings made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus Recovery Funds issued from the federal government in 2021.

“We are excited to break ground on the first of our six buildings in the rural areas of the county,” stated Mayor Bill Ketron. “These buildings will serve to bring health and other life safety services to the residents in those areas, and will provide a continuous presence of first responders and other public safety/health personnel.”

Future locations include buildings in the Walter Hill and Lascassas areas.

The groundbreaking began with a prayer by Deputy to the Mayor Steve Sandlin and was followed by a Welcome by Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron.

Speakers included Joey Peay, Kittrell VFD Chief Randy Grogan, and Commissioners Robert Peay and Pettus Read. Finishing the program were Public Safety Director Chris Clark, EMS Director Brian Gaither, Fire-Rescue Chief Larry Farley, and Rutherford County Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.
