Henry Thomas “Tom” Miller obituary

Mr. Henry Thomas “Tom” Miller, age 79, of Smyrna, TN passed from this earth to his eternal home as a result of a heart condition on December 9, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and one of three children born to John Shirley and Virginia Thompson Miller on January 16, 1942. He was a 1960 graduate of Smyrna High School where he met his one true love, Rebecca “Becky” Jordan Miller. They married on February 19, 1966 and were married for 52 years until her death on July 27, 2018.

Tom was a true storyteller and would share stories of his life and local trivia and history with anyone who would listen. He was a farmer, a mechanic, and a true jack of all trades who could fix anything he set his mind to. If he didn’t know how to design, build, or repair something, he’d research and study it until he did. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed giving people what he thought they needed.

Tom was an employee of Rudy’s Farm, Ryder Truck Rental, Ozburn-Hessey Logistics, and Tennessee Mechanical Corp. He was a member of LaVergne Church of Christ and had also attended Miracle Baptist Church where his wife was a member.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Miller; son, Tommy Miller; his grandchildren, Ryon (Taylor) Green, Kaylea Miller, and Easton Davis; great-grandsons, Sawyer and Liam Green; brother, Charles (Alice) Miller; and nieces, nephews, and his wife’s large, extended family. He was a devoted Poppy to his beloved grandchildren and enjoyed watching them do what they loved.
