Historic Rutledge Hall Reopens at MTSU With New Purpose
One of Middle Tennessee State University’s original buildings is beginning a new chapter.
Rutledge Hall, which dates back to MTSU’s founding in 1911, has officially reopened following a major renovation. The historic building once served as a residence hall, but will now become the home of MTSU’s Department of University Studies.
The renovation was part of a $54.3 million project focused on preserving and modernizing two of the university’s four original buildings.
MTSU leaders say the updated space will continue Rutledge Hall’s long history of supporting students, providing a place where they can receive guidance, pursue their goals and navigate their college experience.
More than 100 years after first welcoming students, Rutledge Hall is starting a new chapter while keeping students at the center of its mission.
