Holton graduates from Police command class

Sheriff’s Lt. Will Holton graduated from the 22-week School of Police Staff and Command from Northwestern University.

The program provides upper-level college instruction in 27 core blocks including leadership, human resources, employee relations, organizational behavior, applied statistics, planning and policy development, budgeting and resource allocation.

Each student is academically challenged through written examinations, projects, presentations and quizzes. Students must write a staff study paper. Graduates earn six undergraduate credits from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Many graduates advance to leadership positions in their agency.

More than 25,000 national and international students graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command since 1983.

The Center for Public Safety was established at Northwestern University in 1936 with the goal of expanding university-based education and training for law enforcement officers.
