Intoxicated driver arrested after pursuit

On April 18, 2020 the La Vergne Police Department received a complaint of a possible intoxicated driver. The vehicle matching the description was located by officers in the area and a traffic stop was conducted. During the traffic stop the vehicle fled the scene while officers were attempting to get the driver out of the vehicle. The vehicle led officers in a pursuit which ended in a collision with another citizen in Smyrna TN.

The driver, who was later identified as Roosevelt Robinson (31), was taken into custody by La Vergne PD officers. His charges are aggravated assault (X2), felony evading, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, open container, simple possession of schedule VI, resisting arrest, and DUI. Robinson has prior history of felony evading and aggravated assault against a first responder. All involved parties sustained no injuries from the incident.
