James Dozier obituary
James Earl Dozier, age 83 of Smyrna, TN passed away at StoneCrest Medical Center on April 14, 2018 after a long, hard fought battle with Cancer and COPD. Earl was born August 17, 1934 in Gray Kentucky to the late Emmett and Myrtle Owens Dozier. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth Dozier of Heidrick, KY and Arthur Dozier of Gray, KY.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Laura Mae Shorter Dozier; a son, Scott Dozier and wife Teresa of Murfreesboro, and a host of loving family and friends.
Mr. Dozier was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 1 st Calvary Division in Korea and later served in the Ohio National Guard. He retired from Consolidated Freightways and was a member of the George M. Verity Masonic Lodge in Middletown, Ohio.
Mr. Dozier loved listening to Bluegrass music and going to festivals with his son Scott. Earl could play bass and sing although he never played outside his home. Earl loved the Lord and prayed every day for people and friends. He made an impact on everyone he met.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. A graveside service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Tony Clemmons officiating. Friends will serve as pallbearers and Bob Goins, Terry Greenway, Everett Adkins and Larry Brown will serve as honorary pallbearers.
