John Verge honored with Proclamation and Key to the City of Murfreesboro

During the ceremonial items on the Sept. 19, 2019, Murfreesboro City Council agenda was a momentous occasion. Lifelong resident John Verge was honored by Mayor Shane McFarland with a Key to the City of Murfreesboro and a Proclamation proclaiming Sept. 19, 2019 as a day to honor John.

Proclamation:

WHEREAS, John Verge is a life-long resident of Rutherford County, graduating from Riverdale High School; and

WHEREAS, for over three decades John has volunteered his time at the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club, where he gave of his time and service and also acted as sports announcer; and

WHEREAS, his service to our city and the people in it shows his love for Murfreesboro and its citizens; and

WHEREAS, throughout the years John has proven to be a loyal friend, humble servant, loyal citizen, and prayer warrior. He is a shining light in our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SHANE MCFARLAND, MAYOR, of the City of MURFREESBORO, TENNESSEE on behalf of the entire City Council do hereby proclaim September 19, 2019 as a day to honor

JOHN VERGE

and urge all citizens to join us in honoring this remarkably benevolent man who has provided contributions to so many who have needed so much.
