Journeys in Community Living Annual Partners in the Journey Luncheon
Join Journeys In Community Living for our 7th Annual Partners in the Journey Luncheon, a must-attend event for all our valued community partners and supporters! We are excited to bring together our community on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 11:45 am in Murfreesboro, TN.
This in-person gathering takes place at The View at Fountains, 1500 Medical Center Pkwy STE 4D. It is the perfect opportunity to learn more about Journeys In Community Living in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Our featured motivational speaker is Mr. H.K. Derryberry, known as the man who remembers everything. H.K. will take us on a rollercoaster ride of emotion, perseverance, and love, sharing his personal journey.
According to doctors, H.K. should never have survived. He was born prematurely and weighed only two pounds, due to an automobile accident that took his mother’s life. Because of the accident and his premature birth, he was born blind with cerebral palsy and other lifetime medical issues. His father abandoned him at age five and his paternal grandmother raised him.
H.K.’s life was forever changed in 1999 when he unexpectedly met Jim Bradford, a local Tennessee business executive. H.K. and Jim became inseparable. Today, H.K. and Jim’s inspirational message “If God Is In Your Life Anything Is Possible” captivates and inspires audiences everywhere. His audience takeaway is: “The only disability any of us have in life is a negative attitude.”
At this luncheon, we will celebrate our collective achievements, share inspiring stories, and discuss future collaborations. It is a chance to strengthen existing partnerships and foster new ones. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to support our comprehensive transportation services program. The individuals we support are unable to drive. Journeys fills this need by providing safe and reliable transportation to take them to and from work, medical appointments, grocery shopping, community events and an array of other life enhancing activities. We currently operate and maintain 45 vehicles. The money raised will allow us to purchase new cars and vans, keep our current fleet operational, and replace deteriorating vehicles.
