Siegel High School Teacher Joy Colston Wins First Ever Boro Blessings

Congratulations to Joy Colston, Siegel High School special education teacher, who is winner of the first Boro Blessings campaign to honor a local educator for outstanding service to her students. For years, Mrs. Colston has organized and raised funds for the Rutherford County RISE (Re-education and Intervention for Student Education) Prom, an event specifically designed to create a magical night of fun for these students at Siegel High. Red Realty and Murfreesboro.com partnered with Chick-fil-A, Hilton Garden Inn, The Alley on Main, Bombshells Salon, Flower Box Nashville, 615 Collection, and Dandy DJ to surprise Mrs. Colston in Siegel’s library. Money and services were donated to ensure that the RISE Prom is a success and continues to be a success long after Mrs. Colston retires. Through this campaign, a check for $2000, $300 in cash, and prizes were donated to Colston. Furthermore, Chick-Fil-A has stepped up to take over the organization and funding of the event after Mrs. Colston retires. The RISE Prom will continue to be financed for years to come! This is the power of community support for our schools. Mayor McFarland was on hand to proclaim August 29, 2018 as Joy Colston Day.
