La Vergne Presented with Certificate from Comptroller’s Office
The City of La Vergne has been presented with a certificate of recognition from the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury. On October 5, the city was recognized for its timely adoption of a balanced budget for the current fiscal year.
“This is an exciting time for the city,” says Mayor Jason Cole. “I’m proud to be part of a city board that can agree to a sound fiscal budget that helps us grow while also keeping our taxes low.”
The certificate recognizes the City’s commitment to operating with a sound financial plan. It is awarded to cities who adopt budgets before the fiscal year end, file the budget within two weeks of adoption, don’t have issues of concern during a budget review, and is not currently under the oversight of the Water & Wastewater Financing Board or Utility Management Review Board.
“It takes effort from all of our directors, department heads and managers to assure that we are spending tax dollars in the most efficient way to achieve a balanced and approved budget,” says Finance Director Phillis Rogers.
