La Vergne Water Billing Department Upgrading to New Payment System Portal

The City of La Vergne water billing department is upgrading to a new online portal that will make it easier for residents and businesses to pay their bills.

The new online portal, InvoiceCloud, is free to access and will officially go into effect on November 1, 2022. Account holders can also sign up for text communications, autopay, and even opt-in to e-billing. The new over-the-phone payment system will be available in English and Spanish.

As always, payments made in person with cash or check will not receive a fee, however, some fees will apply to payments made through the online portal and over-the-phone payment system. Online payments can be made by e-checks, credit, debit, Venmo, or PayPal. No limit will be applied to account payments through InvoiceCloud. For example, if an account balance is $600 (not including any associated fees), the account holder can now pay their bill online in one transaction, whereas before, they would have to submit two payments, one for $400 and another for $200, both receiving an associated fee.

The city signed a multi-year contract with InvoiceCloud. City staff say this system could even incorporate more departments one day. “This new portal is a much-needed improvement for water utility users,” says Water Billing Manager Allison Goutzoulis. “What’s really exciting is the potential to expand InvoiceCloud services to serve other departments, like property taxes, business licenses, and court fees and fines. Even parks and recreation registration fees could one day go through this portal.”

Everyone who wants to utilize the online payment portal must sign up for a new account with InvoiceCloud, including users who currently make payments through Paymentus. Any automatic payments set up through Paymentus need to be canceled by October 30. Automatic payments can only be stopped by the account holder.

More information will be made available with instructions on how to sign up for an InvoiceCloud account and when the service will be officially available for account registration.

The new payment system is a contract agreement between the city and InvoiceCloud. There is no fee to the city to use the system. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the water billing department at 615-793-5932, option 6, or email [email protected].
