Land Donated to Rutherford County for New Public Health and Safety Building

On Tuesday, March 10th, Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron and other elected officials attended the groundbreaking on Del Webb Southern Harmony, a new active adult community being built in Murfreesboro.

The community is situated on over 500 acres of land that was previously owned by former Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess near Highway 96. Around 1,100 homes and an array of recreational amenities will be built on the property for the 55 and up residents.

Mayor Ketron spoke about the value and impact the development means for the county, as well as announcing the donation of two acres of land by Del Webb for a future public health and safety building.

“The donation of these (2) acres is huge for our Citizens of Rutherford County. This location will complete the (6) under construction and planned for our County. ” Mayor Ketron states. “This will now take us from 43% coverage to 94% coverage for our Fire Rescue and EMS Ambulance Services. This will provide quicker response times when minutes and even Seconds makes a difference in someone’s life!”
