Local Author Releases Self-Published Children’s Book
Local artist & author, Mai Hamric, will be releasing her first children’s book on July 14th, 2018. The book is titled Maeby the Cat and is written and illustrated by Hamric.
Maeby is a one-eyed cat who lives outside in a neighborhood overpopulated with feral cats. She often looks through the windows of homes and longs to be one of the cats cozied up safe and warm. But instead she is cold, hungry, sick, and very untrusting of people. One night Maeby stumbles upon a human, and soon both of their lives change in ways they never expected. Based on a true story, this colorful book shows us how cats sometimes adopt us. Adults and children of all ages can learn about feral cats, just like Maeby, that are living in neighborhoods all over the world. And how YOU can help save them.
The story was inspired by Hamric’s real life rescue of a cat from her neighborhood with the help of Rutherford County Cat Rescue. A portion of the sales from the book will be donated to the organization.
A digital book release party will be held on Saturday, July 14th from 3pm to 5pm through a facebook event that can be accessed through this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/2014745985211822/
During the duration of the digital party, “attendees” will be able to purchase copies of the book. The first five to purchase a copy will win a free gift bag that contains all sorts of fun cat-themed merchandise. Everyone who purchases a book during the party will be entered a drawing to win a free copy of the book to share with a friend.
