Long-time MFRD Captain Wade Williams retires

Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) Captain Wade Williams retires after 28 years of dedicated service to the city.

“I’ve loved every minute of it and I still to this day enjoy my job and have never one time regretted coming to work,” Williams said. “I’ve got a farm to run and have a lot of irons in the fire. The time just feels right to retire.”

Williams began his career with MFRD as a firefighter in November 1995. He was promoted to driver in 2003, and then captain in 2006. Until his retirement, Williams served as the HazMat Captain at Station 11 on Blaze Dr. He has several certifications and Special Operations training. He is also an AEMT.

“Captain Williams has been an outstanding team member to us here at MFRD,” said Interim Fire Chief Mark McCluskey. “We appreciate his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of Murfreesboro. He will be missed, but always we be part of the MFRD family. Good luck and enjoy your well-deserved retirement.”

Captain Williams was honored at a going-away gathering on Thursday, Jan. 26 at Station 11.

His last day is today.

MFRD Driver Alvin Brandon has been promoted to captain and will replace Williams.
