Major traffic delays saturday in I-24 in Rutherford County

Expect major traffic delays from now until 5 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 24 westbound in Rutherford County.

Only one lane will be open and the remaining three lanes will be closed for paving during this time period.

Paving will be done from the 72-mile marker between the Interstate 840 and Almaville Road exits to the 68-mile marker between the Almaville Road and Sam Ridley Parkway exits in Smyrna.

Sheriff’s deputies will help direct traffic.

Deputies remind drivers crossing the median to turn around is prohibited.

Drivers can seek alternate routes to Nashville:

• U.S. Highway 41 (Nashville Highway).
• Interstate 840 to Interstate 65.

The paving project caused delays for several hours last weekend.
