Make a Difference in Our Community with The Big Payback

“The Big Payback is an annual 24-hour, online giving celebration raising money and awareness for more than 1,000 area nonprofits, schools, and faith-based organizations, including many Rutherford County agencies like the Child Advocacy Center,” said Development Coordinator Katie Enzor.

The Child Advocacy Center and other Middle Tennessee non-profit agencies are participating in the 9th annual Big Payback hosted by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

Since 2014, they have cumulatively raised more than $25 million, with a total of 180,583 donations from around the globe benefiting Middle Tennessee organizations.

This community-wide giving day shines a spotlight on local giving by accepting gifts of any size and empowering individuals, families, companies, civic organizations, and communities to respond to needs and make a difference in the community. The Community Foundation’s mission is, “to promote and facilitate giving in the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee and beyond.”

The Child Advocacy Center works as a multi-disciplinary team with the Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office to respond to child abuse, child sexual abuse, and drug endangered children cases. In the last 22 years, the team has assisted 12% of the population of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.

“The Child Advocacy Center’s work is very specialized,” continued Enzor. “There are only six forensic interviewers and family advocates in Rutherford and Cannon Counties who have received extensive, specialized training to interview child victims and assist families. The team triages new emergency child abuse cases every morning, prioritizes cases, and responds to child victims who are in imminent danger.”
