Mary Frances Colvin Hughes Obituary

Mary Frances Colvin Hughes, age 88 died Friday, November 25, 2022. A native of Huntsville, AL, and longtime resident of Pulaski, TN, she was the daughter of J. R. and Rosa Lockridge Colvin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Ray Hughes, brother, J. P. Colvin, sisters, Marie Edwards, Louise Dunavant, and Betty Biles.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her daughters, Roseann Barton of Murfreesboro, TN, Fran Rawleigh and her husband Alex of Huntsville, AL, and Amy Dewberry and her husband Ross of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Hughes Barton, Sarah Jane Barton, Sydney Rawls and her husband Jarett, Brooke Higginbotham and her husband Matt, and John Ross Dewberry; great-grandson, Baker Rawls.

Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jim Clardy officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Hughes Barton, John Ross Dewberry, Jarett Rawls, Matt Higginbotham, Ross Dewberry, and Alex Rawleigh serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hughes was an active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and was a retired Rutherford County teacher after 30 years of service at Lascassas Elementary School. Mrs. Hughes was the wife of Ray Hughes, a career coach and teacher, and she was an avid football fan and loyal supporter of his teams.

Mrs. Hughes was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a loving caregiver to her husband for the last ten years of his life.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice in memory of Mary Frances Hughes.
