Mayor Shane McFarland Recognizes Kaylee Rendl with STARS Award
Kaylee Rendl, Program Instructor at Wilderness Station, is the latest City employee to be recognized with the STARS Award—”Succeeding Through Attitudes Reflecting Service Excellence.” Mayor Shane McFarland awarded Rendl Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Rendl was applauded for her customer service in responding to a Daisy Scouts leader who was seeking additional information about a program offered by the Parks & Recreation Department at Wilderness Station, a nature center in Barfield Crescent Park https://www.murfreesborotn.gov/176/Wilderness-Station.
Rendl has worked as a part-time Recreation Program Instructor for the City Parks and Recreation Department since October 2022.
Ana Stovall provided this description in nominating Rendl for the STARS Award:
“I recently e-mailed Kaylee asking about the Animal Encounter program at the Wilderness Station. I wanted to make sure that my group of six Daisy Scouts wouldn’t need reservations. Kaylee was very helpful in her responses. But she didn’t stop with just a “you don’t need reservations.” She went on to explain that the program was a short program and let me know that we could book a personalized program if we preferred. For my purposes, this worked great because I only needed a short presentation. She added helpful information and provided additional services offered. She continued helping me as we “chatted” back and forth about the available table/pavilions near the Wilderness Station and was patient and very nice. Then when I met her at the event, she continued her great customer service by presenting two interesting animals. She was very patient with all the children present, didn’t get phased by the talking/walking/playing throughout, and had a lot of knowledge. Later, after the presentation, while my girls were working on their badge project, she stopped by with one of the owls that she was moving back inside for the day. She taught us some interesting things and again was patient with questions. Kaylee represents the City of Murfreesboro very well and should be considered a STAR!”
STARS stands for “Succeeding Through Attitudes Reflecting Service Excellence.” STARS are examples of representing the City in a positive light, exhibiting the core values, and creating a better quality of life for citizens.
The STARS Service Excellence program recognizes outstanding employees who embody the city’s standards for service excellence and exemplify the city’s core service values. The purpose of the STARS award is to recognize and reward those employees who go beyond their normal job duties in providing outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
