Mental Health Awareness Week at OHS
The Oakland High School Rho Kappa Psychology Honor Society, will host a Mental Health Awareness Week, November 26 – 29. Activities include guest lecturers and information sessions.
Monday, Nov 26: Mental Performance in Sport and Music, a talk by Dr. Masnik, OHS Psychology teacher
Tuesday, Nov 27: Education and Careers in Psychology featuring:
- Laurel Roberts, RN, MSN, Chief Psychiatric Nurse at Rolling Hills
- Pamela Quaintance, CMSW at Alive Hospice
- Former IB Psychology student Sean Eastham majoring in Psychology at UTK
Wednesday, Nov 28: Stress and Anxiety, a talk by Nikki Ciletti, M.Ed., OHS Counselor
Thursday, Nov 29: For faculty members/students who attend at least two of the prior sessions, there will be a free ice cream social and mental health awareness poster/brochure walk.
The students have worked hard at planning and creating these events in hopes that Oakland High School can do its part in Breaking the Stigma around mental illness.
