MFRD Asking for Public’s Assistance with Fire Investigation (258 N Rutherford-Campus Crossings)
Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance with an investigation resulting from an early morning fire at Campus Crossings apartments over the weekend.
Engine 3, Districts 1 and 8, and Rescue 2 were called to 258 N Rutherford around 1:30 Saturday morning. Upon arrival, several Murfreesboro Police Department officers had deployed fire extinguishers to douse flames on an exterior wall in a breezeway near a stairwell.
Engine 3’s crew pulled a hose line to extinguish the remaining fire and keep it from extending into the attic of the breezeway.
The building received cosmetic damage to the siding about 20 feet up the wall.
Assistant Fire Marshal Clay Malone was called to the scene to investigate. Malone said witnesses on scene saw a male subject by the wall, heard some type of liquid hitting the wall, and then saw fire.
If you have any information regarding the fire, please contact MFRD’s Fire Marshals’ Office at 615-849-2605 or Rutherford County Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP (7867) Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm.
