MFRD firefighters deploys to Louisiana to assist with wildfires
Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department deployed a crew of firefighters Sunday morning to assist with wildfires in Louisiana as part of a Tennessee Task Force Strike Team.
Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department deployed a crew of firefighters Sunday morning to assist with wildfires in Louisiana as part of a Tennessee Task Force Strike Team.
MFRD Captain Matt Welcome, Engineer John Fisher, and firefighters (Engineer) Matt Tidwell and Dillon Meyer left Fire Station 9 at 6 a.m. heading to Franklin Fire Station 7 for a TEMA pre-deployment information briefing. The team left for Leesville, Louisiana at 8 a.m. to await assignment.
“When asked, we didn’t hesitate to offer assistance with the Louisiana wildfires,” said MFRD Fire Chief Mark McCluskey. “Efforts like this remind us that in times of a crisis, we must come together and offer hope and provide relief to those affected by the wildfires.”
The Tennessee Task Force Strike Team is made up of 14 firefighting personnel from across Tennessee and three engine companies.
The group has committed to a 21-day deployment.
