Middle Tennessee Electric Bringing Good Energy

Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE) SharingChange Spotlight

After a long day at school, children begin filing in the door at the Fairview Boys & Girls Club. On a typical day, Club Director Tamara Peay and staff welcome about 65 students, ranging from kindergarteners to teens. Despite varying ages and entry times, these students all share one important characteristic: They’re hungry.

A $10,000 MTE SharingChange grant is helping to ensure their after-school snack attack is satisfied with healthy food. The Fairview facility offers options like fresh vegetables, fruits and peanut butter and crackers. Children can also grab milk or juice to drink. Consuming a healthy snack helps growing kids replenish energy and better focus on supervised after-school activities such as completing homework. SharingChange funds also help to serve children a nutritious dinner at the Fairview Clubhouse.
