Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department launches new platform to improve emergency response

Residents and business owners in Murfreesboro now have access to a new resource designed to enhance emergency response efforts.

Residents and businesses in Murfreesboro now have a new way to provide critical information to the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department in the event of an emergency.

“Many times, our crews go into a call without much information other than the type of incident we’re going to,” said MFRD Fire Marshal Brian Lowe. “The more information we have before we arrive, the better. That is the premise behind the new platform called Community Connect.”

MFRD is proud to announce the launch of Community Connect, a voluntary, citizen-driven program designed to improve emergency response times and enhance community preparedness.

“We are always looking for innovative ways to serve and protect our community,” Lowe said. “Community Connect gives our firefighters vital information that can save time and lives during an emergency.”

The secure platform empowers residents and business owners to share critical details about their property, household members, and pets—enabling firefighters to act more effectively in times of crisis.

“By sharing crucial information with our team, residents are helping us respond more effectively when every second counts,” said MFRD Fire Inspector Jonathan Gaither. “This collaboration strengthens our ability to protect lives, homes, and pets, making our community safer for everyone.”

Key features of Community Connect:

  • Resident-Driven information sharing: Households and businesses can voluntarily provide critical details through a secure, easy-to-use portal, helping firefighters prepare before arriving on the scene.
  • Enhanced emergency response: Information such as property layout, accessibility needs, medical conditions, and the presence of pets allows firefighters to make faster, more informed decisions.
  • Community engagement tool: The platform also provides important safety updates and notifications to keep residents informed.

Community Connect prioritizes data protection with bank-level encryption. Information is used solely for emergency purposes and is safeguarded with secure, password-protected protocols to ensure privacy and peace of mind.

For those who live and work in Murfreesboro, separate profiles can be created for both home and business. Each profile is tied to a specific address and email address, allowing residents to manage multiple profiles as needed.

The platform also provides additional services, including burn permit applications, inspection requests, and smoke detector servicing.

MFRD encourages residents and business owners to create or update their safety profiles to ensure their household or property is fully prepared in the event of an emergency. Signing up is quick, easy, and free.

“You hope you never need to call the fire department,” Gaither said, “but if you do, any information we can gather in advance will help us prepare and keep everyone safe.”
