Minor Street Shooting

UPDATE: On Thursday July 11, at approximately 12:51 a.m. Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 700 block of Minor Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject had been shot multiple times.

The victim, Darnell Mayer, 49, of Murfreesboro, was treated on the scene by personnel from Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS) and Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department.

He was transported by RCEMS to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed Mayer approached a vehicle on Minor Street and spoke briefly with two occupants before one of them, inside the vehicle, started shooting.

Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored vehicle leaving the area.

No arrest has been made, but the investigation is continuing to try and determine a motive.

Mayer was also the victim of another shooting on May 6, 2019. He was shot at the corner of Minor Street and Hancock Street. The suspect fled the scene.

On June 11, 2019, Mayer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking near Mercury Blvd. and Middle Tennessee Blvd.

He told police he believes someone was trying to kill him since he didn’t die in the May shooting.

The investigation into those previous incidents is also on-going.


Preliminary Details: A male shot on Minor Street approximately 12:51 a.m. July 11. Subject taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, stable condition. No suspect description. Ongoing investigation. No other information will be released at this time.
