Mixtape 80s Band Takes Over Murfreesboro + What’s Happening This Weekend
The hair is big, the outfits are loud, and we’re going full 80s for this episode of the John and Jen Morning Show!
We’re joined by members of Mixtape, one of the region’s favorite 80s tribute bands, ahead of their return to Friday Night Live on the Murfreesboro Square. We talk about the band’s history, their favorite songs to perform, how they build a setlist, life on the road, and why they work so hard to recreate the biggest songs of the 80s just like fans remember them. Mixtape hits the stage at 6:30 p.m. for a high-energy show on the Square.
We also cover several Murfreesboro updates, including Twisted Sugar coming soon, the latest on the proposed data center rumors near Broad Street and Thompson Lane, Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s new location, MTSU’s Salute to Veterans, and more.
Plus, we run through events happening around Middle Tennessee, including America’s Reptile Expo, Tennessee Hippie Fest, Mecum Auctions at Nashville Superspeedway, concerts at Bridgestone Arena, local high school football, the Titans 5K, and more.
A huge thank you to Middle Tennessee Electric for sponsoring the John and Jen Morning Show.
