Moonshine in the Mansion at Oaklands

Oaklands Mansion will host its inaugural Moonshine in the Mansion on Friday, April 26th from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the mansion and grounds where they will find Short Mountain Distillery’s array of “shines” and enjoy fresh, seasonally inspired pairings by Nashville Events and Catering’s Executive Chef Jonathan Austin. Also providing samplings will be Laura Gossett from The Tasty Table Event Catering.

Included in the samplings will be Short Mountain Distillery’s “Prohibition Tea”. Meet the distillers and learn more about the history of moonshine in Middle Tennessee.

In 1920, prohibition shut down the relationship between farming and distilleries, but the heritage of whiskey making lived on, nowhere more so than Short Mountain, Cannon County Tennessee. During this time famous moonshiners like Cooper Melton used the cave on what is now Short Mountain Distillery’s farm to make “shine” that is said to have supplied Al Capone’s speakeasies throughout the North East.

“In 2010, Short Mountain Distillery became Tennessee’s sixth distillery making a 105 proof authentic Tennessee Moonshine on the Kaufman family’s 300 acre Cannon County farm. Short Mountain Distillery has become an internationally recognized moonshine with thousands of loyal followers. For one night only, you can sample their shine at Oaklands Mansion” said Connor Moss, Special Events Representative.

This unique event supports Oaklands Mansion and its mission, which is rooted in education and preservation.

Advanced admission is $35.00 and will run until 4pm on April 11, 2019. Gate admission will be $40.00. Purchase tickets now at oaklandsmansion.org.
