MTSU Golden Raiders Celebrate Oct. 6 During Homecoming Activities

The classes of 1967 and older — will be celebrated this week during MTSU homecoming festivities.

The Class of ’67 Golden Raiders Reunion and Induction Ceremony will be held starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in the MT Center in the Sam H. Ingram Building, 2269 Middle Tennessee Blvd.

The event location is the former home of North Boulevard Church of Christ. For years, MTSU students either attended church or campus-related events in the building.

The event and induction ceremony celebrate MTSU alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more.

The induction happens during the reunion held at homecoming each year, said Rhonda King, an Alumni Relations assistant director.

“It’s a nice way to celebrate graduating from college,” King said.

Events for Golden Raiders include a bus tour highlighting the buildings they took classes in as well as new ones, lunch and the induction ceremony to follow.

They will be inducted into the Golden Raiders Society by MTSU President Sidney A. McPhee, National Alumni Association President Brian Walshof Murfreesboro and Alumni Relations Director Ginger Freeman.

King said it’s not only “a trip down memory lane, but an opportunity to reconnect with the university.”

Homecoming events continue Friday afternoon and all day Saturday.
