Officer of the Month March 2018

Capturing a fugitive wanted for felony murder in Georgia earned a sheriff’s deputy Officer of the Month honors for March from Ford of Murfreesboro.

Deputy James Throneberry stopped a driver for a minor traffic offense on Interstate 24. After learning the driver was wanted for murder and felony robbery with a weapon, Throneberry arrested him for Georgia law enforcement officers.

General Manager Jason Borowski of Ford of Murfreesboro presented a watch to Throneberry.

Borowski commended Throneberry for his actions.

“Thanks to Deputy Throneberry and his actions on the job, we can rest assured that our community is well protected,” Borowski said. “I thank him for his unyielding service to this community.”

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said Throneberry checked to see if the driver was wanted, which led to the fugitive’s arrest.

“Deputy Throneberry’s actions led to the fugitive being taken off the highways and returned to Georgia to face his murder and robbery charges,” Fitzhugh said.

Sgt. Barry Poole said Throneberry’s arrest protected Rutherford County citizens.

“He is commended for his diligence and attention to detail while performing his duties,” Poole said. “His dedication to his chosen profession makes him a valuable asset to the Sheriff’s Office.”
