Patricia Kay Price Pedigo obituary
Mrs. Patricia Kay Price Pedigo, age 81, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020. She was a native of Indianapolis, IN and a 1956 graduate of Decatur Central High School.
Mrs. Pedigo was determined, tough, loving, kind and cantankerous from the beginning. Even at a young age, her snarky outlook was apparent. In her report card, she received a “U” in Courtesy. Her teacher wrote, “I believe Patty could do better if she would apply herself. She talks to her neighbors too much. She could be much more polite.”
Before becoming a homemaker and artist, she worked in several positions, including a Dental Hygienist at 18 and a Keypunch Operator at Indiana Bell in her 20s. At 39, she became a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked as a L&D nurse.
After moving Murfreesboro in 1987, Mrs. Pedigo participated in many local organizations, including the Murfreesboro Art League, the Rutherford County Homemakers, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Murfreesboro and the Disciples of Women’s Ministries at Central Christian Church.
Through her life, her loves were plenty. Her love of animals ran deep. From her childhood dog, Cookie, to her beloved April Love, she cared for many pets throughout her life. Her love of children was unmistakable by her joyous smile while holding a niece, nephew or grandchild. Her love of music was seen through her participation in several school and church choirs throughout her life and countless nights of karaoke at the local VFW. She was listening to one of her favorites as she peacefully departed this life. Her love of art can be seen through the many paintings that hang in the homes of friends and family. Frequently, her walls of her home became the canvas of her creativity. Also, her artwork was used at times for her church, including as the cover of their 100th Anniversary Edition Church Directory. Most of all, she loved her high school sweetheart, “Eddie My Love.” They lived, struggled, and loved together until his passing in 1997.
Mrs. Pedigo is survived by her children, Christina Hughes Pentecost and her husband Tony of Murfreesboro, Robert Hughes and his wife Rose of Houston, TX, and Anne Pedigo of Houston; grandchildren, Anthony Hughes, Christina Roden, Greg Hughes, Edward Waltz, Brandon Cox, and Robert Pedigo; five great-grandchildren; and faithful canine companion, Coco.
