Murfreesboro Police Department steps up impaired-driving enforcement during holiday season

The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) will join other agencies throughout the state with increased impaired-driving enforcement in hopes of saving lives this holiday season. The enforcement efforts will run from December 18, 2020, to January 1, 2021.

“MPD officers will be out in force this holiday season, making sure the streets are free of impaired drivers,” said Captain Cary Gensemer. “Our number one priority is to save lives.”

MPD is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) statewide Booze It and Lose It campaign, which is part of the National Highway Safety Administration’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over nationwide mobilization efforts.

“We ask all Tennesseans to please drive safely this holiday season,” said THSO Director Buddy Lewis. “Our state and local law enforcement partners will be out in full force to secure Tennessee roadways. We want everyone to make it home safely, so please designate a sober driver.”

MPD received a grant from THSO to assist with increased enforcement efforts.
