Police Homicide Investigation 18-17227
On Monday, August 6, 2018, at approximately 9:00 PM, Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of East Street and Ewing Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim in the driver seat of a vehicle in the driveway of 614 East Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated on scene by Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department personnel and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services who then transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
The victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at St. Thomas Rutherford.
The victim has been identified as James Matthew Poynter (10/29/1979) of Murfreesboro, TN.
There is no suspect information at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
