Rachel Givens obituary
Rachel Givens, age 74 of Murfreesboro, died Saturday June 2, 2018 at her home. She was born in Oak Ridge, TN and was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Harrell Mayes and Mary Elizabeth Evans Mayes, a sister, Ann Wright. Mrs. Givens was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church and was a faithful Volunteer at St. Marks, and helped start the Stephen Ministry as a Stephen Leader. She had attended UT Knoxville and majored in English. Mrs. Givens worked for Morris Newspaper Company and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Givens is survived by her husband, of 55 years, Paul Givens; sons, Thomas Givens and wife Lori of North Carolina; grandchildren, Rebekah and Christopher; two brothers, John Mays and wife Norma of Georgia and Thomas Mays of Rockwood, TN and a host of family and friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Furniture Ministry.
Visitation will be 9AM until 11AM Saturday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 11AM Saturday at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Dr. Jim Clardy, Dr. Craig Goff and Rev. Martha Touchton will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery; Stephen Ministers will serve as pallbearers.
