Ralph L. Tramel Sr. obituary
Ralph L. Tramel Sr., age 76, of Murfreesboro, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018.
He was born in Lexington, Tennessee, November 26, 1941. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Louise Tramel; daughter Scarlette (Don) Austin; son Arnold (Darlene) Tramel; son Ralph (Kathy) Tramel Jr.; brother Dr. Dennis V. Tramel, all of Murfreesboro; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Reverend E. M. and Maggie Ann Tramel; one brother Bill M. Tramel.
Ralph attended Athens State University in Athens, Alabama. He served in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Green Beret, obtaining the rank of SSG in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star. He served in the United States Navy Reserve in the first Gulf War and retired as Chief Store Keeper. He worked in supply service as the Chief Acquisition, Contracting Officer, at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro and the VA Medical Center in Nashville. He was the past Master of Mars Hill Masonic Lodge #129, Christiana, Tennessee. He was an Assistant Scoutmaster and Later Scoutmaster of Troop 106 sponsored by First Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising and showing Tennessee Walking Horses.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 on June 3, 2018 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, TN. Graveside services will he held on 1:00 PM Monday June 4, 2018, at Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. Reverend Cliff Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
