RCFR offers FREE CPR classes to community starting in February
Rutherford County Fire will be offering FREE Hands-Only CPR classes to the community starting in February, taught by Capt. Paula Todd.
Hands only CPR will teach the average person basic lifesaving techniques that can be applied until professional help arrives.
Hands-Only CPR is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation without the mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who witness a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an “out-of-hospital” setting (such as home, work, or in a park). This hands-only technique performed by a bystander has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR in the first few minutes.
Cardiac arrest – a leading cause of death, is an electrical malfunction in the heart that causes an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and disrupts the flow of blood to the brain, lungs and other organs. Each year, a large percentage of out of hospital cardiac arrests occur in the United States – with 70% occurring in homes. Only half of those patients receive the immediate care they need. With Hands-Only CPR training, you could be the difference for someone you love!
