RCS summer food program locations and times announced

Rutherford County Schools has announced locations and times for the federally funded Summer Food Program, which provides free breakfast and lunch to anyone under 18 during the summer months while schools are closed.

This summer’s program will include breakfast at seven schools and lunch at nine Rutherford County schools.

Schools zones do not apply. The free program is open to anyone under 18 in Rutherford County, at all locations.

Breakfast will be served from 7:30 – 8 a.m. at Cedar Grove, Smyrna Primary, Kittrell and Stewartsboro, while Whitworth-Buchanan and McFadden School of Excellence will serve from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Cedar Grove, Roy Waldron, Smyrna Elementary, Kittrell and Stewartsboro, with an extended time from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Smyrna Primary, Whitworth-Buchanan and McFadden.

The summer program runs from June 1 to July 28 but is closed on July 4.

LaVergne Middle will on only open in June and will offer breakfast from 7:30 – 8 a.m. followed by lunch from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Like years past, no food can be taken out of the serving area and plate-sharing is not allowed.

Adult meals are priced at $2 for breakfast and $3.50 for lunch.
